Certificates & family history

The County Council holds records of births, marriages and deaths from 1837 to the present date.

Prior to this records may be found in the local archives or at a local churches.

Certificate and postage costs

Each certificate costs £10 plus postage costs.

If you supply a self addressed envelope or collect in person you will not incur a postage fee.

  • Standard service - certificate will be posted or ready for collection in 5 working days £10 (plus £2.50 if posted)
  • Next day service - certificate will be posted or ready to collect after 2pm on the next working day £40 including the cost of the certificate (plus £2.50 if posted)
  • Express service - certificate will be ready to collect within an hour of locating the entry. £50 includes the cost of a full certificate and the enhanced service. Collect in person only.
