Recycling centres

Policies and strategies

The Household Waste Recycling Service Strategy.pdf sets out our strategy for providing a household recycling service to the residents of Cambridgeshire to dispose of bulky household items or items not collected at the kerbside.

The Recycling Centres Customer Policies.pdf will be reviewed and updated as part of the options work under taken as a result of the Household Recycling Service Strategy, above.

Buying items from recycling centres

Some items taken to recycling centres are available for sale, this does not include electrical items. Please speak to the site staff if you wish to purchase something.

Selling items at the recycling centres

The contractors who operate all our recycling centres have salvage rights over any waste that is deposited at these sites. This income is put towards the day to day running costs of the centre which means costs are kept down for the council and taxpayers.

Soil-improving compost available to buy from recycling centres

40 litre bags of soil-improving compost made from Cambridgeshire's garden and food waste can be bought at recycling centres (apart from Milton) for £2.50 each.

Our contractor Amey provides soil improver free of charge to the public at all three of the County's transfer stations:
