Description

The Family Nurse Partnership is a free and voluntary programme for first time mums aged 19 and under. It starts early in pregnancy and continues until your baby is two.

The Family Nurse Partnership involves regular home visits by specially trained family nurses, which will help you prepare to become a parent. Family nurses are helpful, friendly, non-judgemental and respectful.

The family nurse will provide information and support to help you make decisions which:

  • increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy

  • help manage your labour

  • improve your child’s development, build a positive relationship with your baby and others

  • and help you plan for the future.
Families move on from the partnership when the infant is 2 years old; at this point you will have a health visitor. You may also be involved in children’s centres or have returned to work or college.
