The Hearing Support Centre is a specialist resource base providing support for deaf children from across South Cambridgeshire. The centre has space for eight children. Most deaf children are supported in their local school but some require more specialist support such as can be found at Mayfield where there is a Qualified Teacher of the Deaf and a team of Specialist Hearing Support Teaching Assistants on site.


Primary age children who have permanent severe or profound bi-lateral hearing loss; a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SSEN) / Education, Health and Care Plan (EHC Plan) in which hearing impariment is identified as the primary need and severe receptive language delay and associated delayed expressive language development.


Referral is via the Statutory Assessment and Resources Team (START).
